Redemption is SO sweet...

After guilty feelings about posting Caleb at his not-so-finest hour, I wanted to show his more real self. He (and Luke too) have been so excited about THEIR new baby, Paul, and this is the kind of treatment they give him. Well, this and about a million kisses every day.

Bringing Paul home...

So this is just a bit of making fun of ourselves as we were trying to head home from the hospital with Paul. Not only was it chaotic, traumatic, and incredibly exhausting.....but I wasn't even holding the camera the right way so you'll have to watch it with your head tilted! (For those friends in England, I should've gotten a better shot of the room. But check out this birthing suite! This was the room Paul was born in-----they have oxygen hook-ups and heat lamps and all sorts of medical devices hidden behind paintings on the walls. The room is supposed to look similar to a hotel room, of course. After the baby is born, about 10 nurses come in and super-clean the room. Then you stay there for the next 2 nights.)

In Caleb's defense, prior to the shooting of this video....our electricity went out at 2AM, the house was WAY TOO HOT with no air conditioning, Luke threw up, Chris was nauseous and thought he might throw up too, and (last but certainly not least) water went gushing into Chris' and my bedroom through a faulty window. And all this between the hours of 2-6 AM. So, they made their way down to the hospital to hang out with Paul and me and our air conditioning. After a few hours, the doctors had released us to go and there was no one more ready to move on than Caleb.

Our sweet, little baby...

Paul Weygand Barnett was born Friday morning, August 22, 2008 at 11:04. He weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces, and was 21 inches long. He has a head full of dark brown hair and his eyes are blue. We are all so excited to welcome him into our family.

Induction tomorrow...

After hoping I would go into labor on my own, it seems we are bound for another induction. We head to the hospital tomorrow morning at 6 AM, so hopefully the next post will have baby pictures. Many thanks for your prayers... :)

Old pictures....

I LOVE OUR SCANNER......this is so much fun!

My mom---age 18.
My baby brother and me...
And again...
My dad---age 12.

Old, sweet pictures....

I'm feeling extra sentimental these days AND I wanted to learn how to work our cool printer/scanner, so here are some old pictures I've found of my sweet hubby & me. Obviously this first one is us on our wedding day: July 22, 2000.
From a couple of months before our wedding....2000.....in my mom's office.
On the back deck of the house I lived in while teaching in Homewood.....again, a couple of months before the wedding.
Hard to believe these pictures are 8+ years old----wow!!

Some more random shots.....

August has (so far) been a totally chaotic month and so, here are some more totally random shots.

The boys' room with their Red Sox pictures up (thanks, Mary!).

Riding in the tractor with Uncle Ray.....what a treat!!
Happy after a night of playing at the farm...
Monday, August 11: Ready and waiting for the bike ride (thanks Mollie & Brian for the awesome trailer!) to their FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! (Well, first day here. Luke went 2 hours each day in Oxford. It hadn't occurred to us that he'd expect to see his old school buddies at this school, but he was quite disappointed when I picked him up about the fact that Bradley and Emily weren't in his class. Poor kid! Caleb, however, was Mr. Happy. He loved being with the other kids and new toys.)

Some random pics.....

So this isn't the greatest picture in the world, but it really reminds me of one I know I've seen of my 2 brothers and me from probably 25 years ago. Here our little guys are at 7 AM waiting for us to load up the car so we can head for the lake to play with Cousin Reese, Aunt JoAnna, and Uncle Bert. They're eating car-shaped muffins for breakfast, by the way, which are so much fun!!
Playing soccer in the heat. This is a super zoomed up shot---I was really far away in the only shade I could find and still, I was sweating about as much as these handsome fellas.
Caleb enjoyed the soccer almost as much as the Capri Suns. His favorite thing about the Capri Suns, however, was finishing them and throwing them in the trash can.
